The United Nations came into existence on 24 October 1945, with 50 member nations. It has grown enormously since and the UN system now involves more than 100 bodies, programmes, commissions and funds. Our graphic allows you to explore the intricate structure of the UN system, as well as highlight all the various entities sharing involvement in areas such as development and security.
