The left player is playing Dr. Mario while the right player is playing Tetris.</figcaption></figure><p>Tetris &amp; Dr. Mario is a <a href="/falling-blocks/3015-4539/" data-ref-id="3015-4539">falling-block</a> puzzle game compilation developed and published by <a href="/nintendo/3010-90/" data-ref-id="3010-90">Nintendo</a> for the <a href="/super-nintendo-entertainment-system/3045-9/" data-ref-id="3045-9">Super Nintendo Entertainment System</a> in North America on December 30, 1994 and in Europe on July 25, 1995.</p><p>As the name implies, Tetris &amp; Dr. Mario is a compilation cartridge containing updated versions of the NES and Game Boy versions of <a href="/tetris/3030-1896/" data-ref-id="3030-1896">Tetris</a> and the <a href="/dr-mario/3030-17641/" data-ref-id="3030-17641">Dr. Mario</a>, both of which have minor graphical and gameplay updates (such as player-vs-CPU support in the VS. modes).</p><p>In addition, the cartridge includes an exclusive third game, known as "Mixed Match", which is a multiplayer "score attack" game with both players playing a series of three games (Tetris B-Type, then Dr. Mario, then an endless Tetris A-Type) on a shared time limit and try to get the highest score. The concept of mixing Tetris with another falling-block puzzle game would later be revisited 20 years later with <a href="/puyo-puyo-tetris/3030-43883/" data-ref-id="3030-43883">Puyo Puyo Tetris</a>.</p><p>While the compilation did not get released in Japan (due to Tetris licensing there), the Dr. Mario portion was later released separately in Japan, first for the <a href="/satellaview/3045-98/" data-ref-id="3045-98">Satellaview</a> (on March 30, 1997), then as part of the <a href="/nintendo-power/3015-8760/" data-ref-id="3015-8760">Nintendo Power</a> cart-writing service (on June 1, 1998).</p>
