<h2>Overview</h2><p>Tecmo World Cup is a soccer game developed and published by <a href="//www.giantbomb.com/sims-co-ltd/3010-1013/" data-ref-id="3010-1013">SIMS Co.</a> for the Japanese Sega Mega Drive, and published by <a href="//www.giantbomb.com/atlus-usa-inc/3010-6490/" data-ref-id="3010-6490">Atlus Software</a> for the North American Sega Genesis platform. In Japan the game is titled Tecmo World Cup '92. It is an enhanced port of <a href="/tecmo-world-cup-90/3030-44854/" data-ref-id="3030-44854">Tecmo World Cup '90</a>, an arcade game by Tecmo, expanding the number of available teams from eight to twenty-four. It features single-player and two-player modes, as well as a World Cup mode that progresses through a groups stage before moving to the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final.</p><p>While named for the global FIFA event, Tecmo World Cup isn't based on the 1990 World Cup in particular, as the qualifying teams are different.
