<h2>Overview</h2><p>Top Gear Rally 2, not to be confused with <a href="/top-gear-pocket-2/3030-18131/" data-ref-id="3030-18131">the European release of Top Gear Pocket 2</a>, is a 3D <a href="/rally/3015-2611/" data-ref-id="3015-2611">rally-racing</a> game developed by <a href="/saffire-corporation/3010-1331/" data-ref-id="3010-1331">Saffire</a> and published by <a href="https://www.giantbomb.com/kemco/3010-1270/" data-ref-id="3010-1270">Kemco</a> for the <a href="https://www.giantbomb.com/nintendo-64/3045-43/" data-ref-id="3045-43">Nintendo 64</a> in North America on December 3, 1999, with a Japanese release on February 4, 2000 and a European release on February 28, 2000.</p><p>A successor to the 1997 game <a href="/top-gear-rally/3030-9838/" data-ref-id="3030-9838">Top Gear Rally</a>, Top Gear Rally 2 builds on the original game's simulation aspect (as opposed to the <a href="/top-gear/3025-266/" data-ref-id="3025-266">Top Gear</a> series arcade-style predecessor, <a href="/top-gear-overdrive/3030-15563/" data-ref-id="3030-15563">Top Gear Overdrive</a>) with a new, more-realistic physics engine, in-depth tuning and damage systems, an actual point-to-point rally racing system, and a "random track generation system" (in which the track condition can change at any time).
