<h2>Overview</h2><figure data-align="right" data-size="small" data-img-src="https://www.giantbomb.com/a/uploads/original/12/127673/2001183-rushing_beat_shura_front.jpg" data-ref-id="1300-2001183" data-ratio="1.8356164383562" data-width="292" data-embed-type="image" style="width: 292px"><a class="fluid-height" style="padding-bottom:183.6%" href="https://www.giantbomb.com/a/uploads/original/12/127673/2001183-rushing_beat_shura_front.jpg" data-ref-id="1300-2001183"><img alt="No Caption Provided" src="https://www.giantbomb.com/a/uploads/original/12/127673/2001183-rushing_beat_shura_front.jpg" srcset="https://www.giantbomb.com/a/uploads/original/12/127673/2001183-rushing_beat_shura_front.jpg 292w" sizes="(max-width: 292px) 100vw, 292px" data-width="292"></a></figure><p>The Peace Keepers (known in Japan as <em>Rushing Beat Shura</em>) is a <a href="https://www.giantbomb.com/belt-scrolling/3015-8588/" data-ref-id="3015-8588">belt-scrolling</a> beat-'em-up developed and published by <a href="https://www.giantbomb.com/jaleco-ltd/3010-1033/" data-ref-id="3010-1033">Jaleco</a> for the <a href="https://www.giantbomb.com/super-nintendo-entertainment-system/3045-9/" data-ref-id="3045-9">Super Nintendo Entertainment System</a> in December 17, 1993 for Japan and in March 17, 1994 for North America.</p><p>The third and final game in <a href="/rushing-beat/3025-893/" data-ref-id="3025-893">the Rushing Beat trilogy</a>, The Peace Keepers features a more elaborate story with a new cast of protagonists, <a href="/branching-story-line/3015-1646/" data-ref-id="3015-1646">branching paths</a>, and <a href="/multiple-endings/3015-27/" data-ref-id="3015-27">multiple endings</a>. It also builds on the Versus Mode, allowing four-player two-on-two combat with use of a <a href="/super-multitap/3000-48/" data-ref-id="3000-48">multitap</a> accessory.</p><p>The game's story is set in near-future 2015, years after an economic war left the world in turmoil. A major corporation (Deutschland Moldavia in the English version and Douglas Motors in the Japanese version) has acquired most of the world's resources and is set on using its <a href="/biotechnology/3015-2359/" data-ref-id="3015-2359">bio-genetic</a> and <a href="/nanotechnology/3015-2358/" data-ref-id="3015-2358">nano-technological</a> research to further the world domination plans of its corrupt leader (Trip Iago in the English version, Kulmbach Laurinzam in the Japanese version). Each of the four main protagonists have been affected by the DM Corporation's ill deeds and seek revenge.</p><p>Compared to previous games in the series, where its English <a href="/lost-in-translation/3015-5017/" data-ref-id="3015-5017">localization</a> changes were mostly limited to story and name changes, The Peace Keepers includes more significant differences. This includes completely reworking most of the soundtrack to <a href="/loud-ambient-noises/3015-1548/" data-ref-id="3015-1548">ambient noise</a>, reworking character dialogue icons to <a href="/digitized-sprites/3015-2288/" data-ref-id="3015-2288">digitized actors</a>, and simplifying the animation of special attacks.</p><p>It was later included in the <a href="https://www.giantbomb.com/super-nintendo-entertainment-system-nintendo-switc/3015-9415/" data-ref-id="3015-9415">Super Nintendo Entertainment System - Nintendo Switch Online</a> service outside of Japan on September 23, 2022.</p><h2>Gameplay</h2><p>The game plays a lot like contemporary brawlers such as <a href="/final-fight/3030-6722/" data-ref-id="3030-6722">Final Fight</a>. The player can move horizontally and vertically along a two-dimensional field where they have to fight off waves of enemies with kicks, punches, throws and life bar consuming special attacks. The game features several branching paths with their own stages, cut scenes and boss fights as well as <a href="/multiple-endings/3015-27/" data-ref-id="3015-27">multiple endings</a>. The game features six playable characters and allows for co-op play with up to four players using the SNES multitap accessory.
