Named after the legendary daimyō himself, Dokuganryū Masamune follows Date Masamune's campaign to conquer the Tōhoku region during the Sengoku period. You are given the responsibility to manage the economy of your territories to in turn fund your army. Prices for rice and arms fluctuate with each turn (equivalent to a season) pass. Tactical battles are also turn-based and on a square grid. You control regiments rather than individual units. The banner-carrying regiment is the general. Losing him is an instant loss for either side. Masamune visibly ages as you play, and while he can live slightly longer in this game than the real daimyō, you only have until his passing to complete the unification campaign.
