<h2>Overview</h2><p>Maten no Soumetsu (roughly, "Annihilation of the Demon Sky") is a turn-based RPG released in late 1993 for the Sega Mega Drive. It did not receive an official localization. It is mechanically and visually reminiscent of 8-bit RPGs like <a href="/dragon-quest/3025-160/" data-ref-id="3025-160">Dragon Quest</a>, with its random encounter battles adopting a first-person view of the enemies.</p><p>Magazine producers Kodansha also made the game through their Kodansha Research Institute subsidiary, with some support from contractors Geo Factory. Released the week after <a href="/phantasy-star-iv-the-end-of-the-millennium/3030-13493/" data-ref-id="3030-13493">Phantasy Star IV: The End of the Millennium</a>, it did not review or sell particularly well. </p>
