This is a top-down space shooter inspired by 80's arcade classics like R-Type and 1941. The game is still in an early state. I started it as a demo so I could get a job making Flash games. It worked, and I've been too busy since then to finish the game. I made the art in Flash CS4, and did the programming in Flex Builder 3. I also used the Flex framework for the UI elements as an exercise in mixing standard Flash assets with Flex components. I've decided that for most games it's not worth the extra overhead to use the Flex components.
