Mirai Shinwa Jarvas is a science-fantasy action RPG that sees the spaceship Jarvas returning to Earth after a centuries long mission to find the planet a post-apocalyptic wasteland. You are the sole survivor of the Jarvas and you land near your old home town in America, only to discover that the world has been destroyed and there's nothing left, not even hamburgers. And so you set off to conquer the Earth one continent at a time. You start in a spacesuit, with a dagger and 80 gold. As you wander the world, you must hit enemies to gain experience points. While the majority of the action is in real time, you pull up a menu to check your stats, talk to people, or cast any spells. As you're exploring, enemies will appear in the corner of the screen when you walk over certain squares. Your character has a class, astronaut, which can be changed to either swordsman (can use most weapons), fighter (highest hit-points), or wizard (can cast spells at the cost of experience points). You progress through the game by earning gold and fame. Gold can mainly be gained through quests, which you can select at a quest giver. You can only perform one quest at a time and they can be repeated. To earn fame you must duel, which is a different mode of play. Dueling shifts the top-down view to a side view, and it plays similarly to a fighting game. Fame is used to recruit troops.
