<h2>Overview</h2><p>Batman: Return of the Joker (known in Japan as Dynamite Batman) is a 2D action platformer developed and published by <a data-ref-id="3010-19" href="/sunsoft/3010-19/">SunSoft</a> for the <a data-ref-id="3045-21" href="/nes/3045-21/">Nintendo Entertainment System</a> on December 20, 1991. Sequel to the NES version of <a data-ref-id="3030-21264" href="/batman-the-video-game/3030-21264/">Batman: The Video Game</a>, players regain control of <a data-ref-id="3005-66" href="/batman/3005-66/">Batman</a> as he travels through the underworld of <a data-ref-id="3035-111" href="/gotham-city/3035-111/">Gotham City</a> to stop the plans of <a data-ref-id="3005-952" href="/the-joker/3005-952/">The Joker</a>.</p><p>Unlike the previous game, which allowed players to switch between different weapons and gadgets, the game features only one single gun that Batman can collect powerups (similar to <a data-ref-id="3030-4350" href="/contra/3030-4350/">Contra</a>) for.</p><p>The game was remade for the <a data-ref-id="3045-6" href="/genesis/3045-6/">Genesis</a> in 1992, titled Batman: Revenge of the Joker (developed by <a data-ref-id="3010-4976" href="/ringler-studios/3010-4976/">Ringler</a>). A different game (with the same name as the original) was released for the <a data-ref-id="3045-3" href="/game-boy/3045-3/">Game Boy</a> also in 1992 (developed by SunSoft).</p>
