<h2>Overview</h2><p>Space Invaders '91 (JP: Space Invaders '90) is a remake of the venerable single-screen arcade shoot 'em up from Taito. The year is reflected in the title, and necessitated a change for the North American version after it was delayed to 1991. It is distinct to <a href="/super-space-invaders-91/3030-9299/" data-ref-id="3030-9299">Super Space Invaders '91</a>, which also saw releases on Sega consoles.</p><p>Included in its changes are new enemies with new attack patterns, a power-up system which requires destroying the fast-moving UFO at the top of the screen, and a shield system that replaced the old barricades and allows the player to absorb several hits before dying - the downside being that a death resets the entire enemy wave.</p>
