<h2>Overview</h2><p>OutRun 2019 is a sci-fi racing game where players take on courses in rocket-powered cars. It is based on Sega's arcade game <a href="/outrun/3025-464/" data-ref-id="3025-464">OutRun</a> and like that game uses a behind-the-car perspective and course design that incorporates multiple branches, some of which are carefully hidden. It was originally planned to be a Sega CD game, but production was moved to the Mega Drive instead.</p><p>It was developed by the small studio Hertz, a subsidiary of a larger engineering company, and published by SIMS in Japan and Sega in North America and Europe.</p>
