The game is known for its unique trick modifier system, in which several tricks have several different variations to perform.</p><p>The PS1 version of the game later received an updated revision as <a href="/dave-mirra-freestyle-bmx-maximum-remix/3030-6737/" data-ref-id="3030-6737">Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX: Maximum Remix</a>, adding new levels and a new Expert difficulty setting, along with a bonus <a href="/original-soundtrack-release/3015-189/" data-ref-id="3015-189">soundtrack</a> CD. The game also received <a href="/dave-mirra/3025-132/" data-ref-id="3025-132">sequels</a>, starting with <a href="/dave-mirra-freestyle-bmx-2/3030-10174/" data-ref-id="3030-10174">Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2</a> and ending with the infamous <a href="/spin-off/3015-1100/" data-ref-id="3015-1100">spin-off</a> <a href="/bmx-xxx/3030-5474/" data-ref-id="3030-5474">BMX XXX</a>.</p><p>A handheld version was developed by Neon Studios for the <a href="/game-boy-color/3045-57/" data-ref-id="3045-57">Game Boy Color</a> on November 10, 2000, which uses an <a href="/isometric-viewpoint/3015-246/" data-ref-id="3015-246">isometric persepective</a>.</p><h2>Gameplay</h2><p>Players ride around various areas pulling off different tricks. The trick system involves pulling off one base trick, and then adapting other modifier tricks into that one base trick. The game features exaggerated movement and <a href="/ragdoll-physics/3015-118/" data-ref-id="3015-118">ragdoll physics</a>.</p><p>Four modes are available: Proquest, Free Ride, Session, and two-player (only available in the PlayStation and Dreamcast versions). Each mode has different events and certain tasks to perform.</p><p>Players can unlock features by beating the game with various characters.
