<h2>Overview</h2><p>A <a href="/top-down-perspective/3015-788/" data-ref-id="3015-788">top-down</a>, <a href="/dungeon-crawling/3015-165/" data-ref-id="3015-165">dungeon-crawling</a>, action RPG originally released for the <a href="/nec-pc-9801/3045-112/" data-ref-id="3045-112">NEC PC-98</a> and <a href="/fm-towns/3045-108/" data-ref-id="3045-108">FM Towns</a> computers in 1991. It was later ported to the <a href="/super-nintendo-entertainment-system/3045-9/" data-ref-id="3045-9">SNES</a> console in 1994, a localized version of which was released in <a href="/north-america/3035-1664/" data-ref-id="3035-1664">North America</a> in February 1995. A version was also released for the <a href="/turbografx-cd/3045-53/" data-ref-id="3045-53">NEC PC Engine CD-ROM²</a> console. Nihon Falcom, the developers of <a href="/ys/3025-112/" data-ref-id="3025-112">Ys</a> and <a href="/dragon-slayer/3025-783/" data-ref-id="3025-783">Dragon Slayer</a>, also created the <a href="/brandish/3025-1416/" data-ref-id="3025-1416">Brandish</a> series.</p><p>The original computer versions use a mouse-controlled <a href="/point-and-click/3015-75/" data-ref-id="3015-75">point &amp; click</a> interface, much like later <a href="/pc/3045-94/" data-ref-id="3045-94">PC</a> action RPGs such as the <a href="/diablo/3025-148/" data-ref-id="3025-148">Diablo</a> series.</p><p>In 2009, a heavily revamped version of Brandish was released for the PSP in Japan known as <a href="/brandish-the-dark-revenant/3030-25293/" data-ref-id="3030-25293">Brandish: The Dark Revenant</a>. It also became available outside the Japan as a downloadable title in 2014. </p><p> </p>
