It later received a Super Famicom release exclusively in Japan by TAKARA on August 5, 1994, where it is known as Mahou Poi Poi Poitto! (or "Magic Poi Poi Poitto!").

Featuring a fantasy theme, Poitto tasks players with using multi-block pieces to line up three-or-more pieces horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, similar to Columns. It is known for its four-block rotatable square pieces, which can include blocks that clear themselves after landing. The arcade version has each block representing a different-colored potion (with empty ones breaking after landing), while the SFC verison has each block representing a different-colored monster (with clouds disappearing after landing).

The game features a competitive two-player mode and a one-player story mode. In the story mode, the player takes on a series of monsters. The monster intermittently casts spells at the player that randomly transforms blocks into "enemy blocks". By casting magic back at the monster, best done by creating chains and combos, the ground beneath them moves towards the ceiling. Once high enough, the monster is crushed and the player moves onto the next stage.
