<h2>Overview</h2><p>Sougou Kakutougi: Astral Bout, or simply Astral Bout, is the first in a series of competitive fighting games that focus on the then-fledgling <a href="//www.giantbomb.com/fighting-network-rings/3025-2007/" data-ref-id="3025-2007">Fighting Network Rings</a> promotion that pits fighters of various disciplines against each other in an early form of televised <a href="//www.giantbomb.com/mixed-martial-arts/3015-3258/" data-ref-id="3015-3258">mixed martial arts</a>, or MMA.</p><p>Players can select between nine fighters that each use a distinctive fighting style: Sambo (a Russian martial art similar to Judo), Muay Thai kickboxing, Professional Wrestling (including <a href="//www.giantbomb.com/lucha-libre/3015-332/" data-ref-id="3015-332">Lucha Libre</a>), Karate, Judo, Boxing, Kung Fu and a general form of martial arts.</p><h2>Characters</h2><ul><li>James Taylor, a <a href="/boxer/3015-13/" data-ref-id="3015-13">boxer</a> who bears a distinct resemblance to <a href="/mike-tyson/3005-170/" data-ref-id="3005-170">Mike Tyson</a>.</li></ul>
