<h2>Overview</h2><p>Super Bust-A-Move (known in Japan as <em>Super Puzzle Bobble</em>, which is not to be confused with <a href="/super-puzzle-bobble/3030-56859/" data-ref-id="3030-56859">the arcade game of the same name</a>) is a <a href="https://www.giantbomb.com/block-matching/3015-3778/" data-ref-id="3015-3778">tile-matching</a> puzzle game developed by <a href="/taito-corporation/3010-135/" data-ref-id="3010-135">Taito</a> and published by <a href="/acclaim-entertainment-inc/3010-88/" data-ref-id="3010-88">Acclaim</a> (Taito in Japan) for the <a href="/playstation-2/3045-19/" data-ref-id="3045-19">PlayStation 2</a> in 2000 (September 28 in Japan, November 26 in North America, and December 15 in Europe).</p><p>The sixth game in the <a href="/bust-a-move/3025-78/" data-ref-id="3025-78">Bust-A-Move</a> series (and the first to not be released in <a href="/arcade/3045-84/" data-ref-id="3045-84">arcades</a> first), Super Bust-A-Move is known for its unique cast of characters (featuring a stylized toon art style).</p><p>The game received a <a href="/pc/3045-94/" data-ref-id="3045-94">PC</a> port in North America (published by <a href="/eon-digital-entertainment/3010-2348/" data-ref-id="3010-2348">EON Digital</a>) on October 19, 2001. It also received a <a href="/game-boy-advance/3045-4/" data-ref-id="3045-4">Game Boy Advance</a> port in late 2001, published by <a href="/ubisoft-entertainment/3010-82/" data-ref-id="3010-82">Ubisoft</a> outside of Japan and known as <em>Super Puzzle Bobble Advance</em> in Japan.</p><p>The game also received two separate updates: one for the PlayStation 2 in 2002 (titled <a href="/super-bust-a-move-2/3030-33458/" data-ref-id="3030-33458">Super Bust-A-Move 2</a>, also known as <em>Super Puzzle Bobble 2</em>) and one for the <a href="/gamecube/3045-23/" data-ref-id="3045-23">GameCube</a> in 2003 (titled <a href="/bust-a-move-3000/3030-5004/" data-ref-id="3030-5004">Bust-A-Move 3000</a>, also known as <em>Super Bust-A-Move All Stars</em> and <em>Super Puzzle Bobble All Stars</em>). Both this game and its PS2 update were re-released in 2004 as the <a href="/simple/3025-1171/" data-ref-id="3025-1171">Simple</a> compilation <a href="/simple-2000-series-vol-62-the-super-puzzle-bobble-/3030-46909/" data-ref-id="3030-46909">Simple 2000 Series Vol. 62: The Super Puzzle Bobble DX</a>.</p>
