<h2>Overview</h2><p>Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is a historical-fantasy action-adventure game developed by both <a href="/genki-co-ltd/3010-378/" data-ref-id="3010-378">Genki</a> and <a href="/lightweight-co-ltd/3010-3103/" data-ref-id="3010-3103">LightWeight</a> and published by <a href="/ubisoft-entertainment/3010-82/" data-ref-id="3010-82">Ubisoft</a> for the <a href="/playstation-2/3045-19/" data-ref-id="3045-19">PlayStation 2</a> in North America on October 9, 2003 and in Europe on November 28, 2003, with a later <a href="/xbox/3045-32/" data-ref-id="3045-32">Xbox</a> release in North America on December 9, 2003 and in Europe on January 16, 2004. The PS2 version also received a release in Japan by <a href="/entertainment-software-publishing/3010-3963/" data-ref-id="3010-3963">Entertainment Software Publishing</a> on January 22, 2004.</p><p>A <a href="/games-based-on-movies/3015-755/" data-ref-id="3015-755">video game adaptation</a> of <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crouching_Tiger,_Hidden_Dragon" data-target="true" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">the 2000 wuxia film of the same name</a>, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is set in 19th century <a href="/china/3035-343/" data-ref-id="3035-343">China</a> and puts players in the role of three <a href="/martial-arts/3015-515/" data-ref-id="3015-515">martial artists</a> trained in the art of Wudan: retired swordsman <a href="/li-mu-bai/3005-25342/" data-ref-id="3005-25342">Li Mu Bei</a> (portrayed by <a href="/chow-yun-fat/3040-3599/" data-ref-id="3040-3599">Chow Yun-fat</a>), his lifelong friend Yu Shu Lien (portrayed by <a href="/michelle-yeoh/3040-191788/" data-ref-id="3040-191788">Michelle Yeoh</a>), and the young aristocratic thief Jen (portrayed by Zhang Ziyi).</p><p>The game also received a handheld adaptation for the <a href="/game-boy-advance/3045-4/" data-ref-id="3045-4">Game Boy Advance</a>, developed by <a href="/ubisoft-shanghai-studios/3010-620/" data-ref-id="3010-620">Ubisoft Shanghai</a> and released in-tandem with the PS2 version in North America and Europe. Unlike the console games, this version is a 2D side-scrolling action-platformer and is focused on one protagonist (Jen).</p>
