Princess Clarisse of Cagliostro is in distress again shortly after the events of the movie Castle of Cagliostro. This time, she has been kidnapped (or has she?), prompting Lupin III and his merry men Jigen and Goemon to set out on a globe-trotting journey to rescue her and uncover the conspiracy behind her disappearance. In Lupin Sansei: Pandora no Isan, you play as Lupin, Jigen and Goemon, which are also your 3 lives. When you die, you cannot continue with the previously selected character and have to proceed with another. Lose all 3 characters and it's game over. The health system of the game is represented by 2 gadgets: balloons and armor. Falling off platforms while having a balloon will cause your active character to take out a balloon to fly back up, followed by the balloon popping off. Taking damage from enemies while having an armor will shred the armor. Without those gadgets, falling off and enemy damage are instant deaths. Each playable character plays slightly differently. Lupin has a short range attack and can use all gadgets acquired from white suitcases throughout the stages, Jigen has a long range attack and can jump while shooting and Goemon can only attack in melee range but his attack is the strongest.
