About
<h2>Overview</h2><p>VR Troopers is a 2D sci-fi superhero fighting game developed by <a href="/syrox-developments-ltd/3010-597/" data-ref-id="3010-597">Syrox</a> and published by <a href="/sega/3010-62/" data-ref-id="3010-62">Sega</a> for the <a href="/genesis/3045-6/" data-ref-id="3045-6">Sega Genesis</a> and <a href="/game-gear/3045-5/" data-ref-id="3045-5">Sega Game Gear</a> in 1995 exclusively in North America and Europe.</p><p>A fighting game adaptation of <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VR_Troopers" data-target="true" data-nofollow="true" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">the 1994 American live-action superhero television series of the same name</a>, VR Troopers has a similar premise to the show's sibling series <a href="/power-rangers/3025-915/" data-ref-id="3025-915">Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers</a> (which uses doctored footage of Japanese <a href="/tokusatsu/3015-1193/" data-ref-id="3015-1193">tokusatsu superhero</a> series for its action sequences). The show (and thus the game) uses concepts from Toei's <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metal_Hero_Series" data-target="true" data-nofollow="true" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">Metal Hero</a> series (namely <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Choujinki_Metalder" data-target="true" data-nofollow="true" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">Choujinki Metalder</a> and <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jikuu_Senshi_Spielban" data-target="true" data-nofollow="true" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">Jikuu Senshi Spielban</a>).</p><p>The story follows the titular teenage trio (<a href="/jb-reese/3005-39152/" data-ref-id="3005-39152">JB Reese</a>, <a href="/kaitlin-star/3005-39153/" data-ref-id="3005-39153">Kaitlin Star</a>, and <a href="/ryan-steele/3005-39151/" data-ref-id="3005-39151">Ryan Steel</a>) as they <a href="/virtual-reality/3015-421/" data-ref-id="3015-421">become trapped</a> in a mysterious <a href="/arcade-cabinet/3055-1232/" data-ref-id="3055-1232">arcade machine</a>, and must fight the forces of the virtual creature <a href="/grimlord/3005-39154/" data-ref-id="3005-39154">Grimlord</a> to escape back to reality.</p><h2>Characters</h2><ul><li><a href="/jb-reese/3005-39152/" data-ref-id="3005-39152">JB Reese</a></li><li><a href="/kaitlin-star/3005-39153/" data-ref-id="3005-39153">Kaitlin Star</a></li><li><a href="/ryan-steele/3005-39151/" data-ref-id="3005-39151">Ryan Steel</a></li><li><a href="/tankotron/3005-39155/" data-ref-id="3005-39155">Tankotron</a> (not playable in Story Mode)</li><li><a href="/decimator/3005-39156/" data-ref-id="3005-39156">Decimator</a> (not playable in Story Mode)</li><li><a href="/kongbot/3005-39157/" data-ref-id="3005-39157">Kongbot</a> (not playable in Story Mode)</li><li><a href="/darkheart/3005-39158/" data-ref-id="3005-39158">Darkheart</a> (not playable in Story Mode)</li><li><a href="/the-magician/3005-39159/" data-ref-id="3005-39159">The Magician</a> (not playable in Story Mode)</li><li><a href="/kamelion/3005-39160/" data-ref-id="3005-39160">Kamelion</a> (final boss, unplayable, <a href="/shape-shifting/3015-570/" data-ref-id="3015-570">transforms</a> into the other playable characters)</li><li>Skugs (unplayable, only fought against in multiple groups in the bonus "Power Grid" segments of Story Mode)</li></ul>
