Follow these twelve steps as they go around in either direction. They seem go on forever and never get anywhere, no matter which way you go; up or down. Mouse over any step to hear a musical chord. Follow the music around in either direction. Just like the stairs, the music seems to go on forever in either direction; it's impossible to tell where it starts and where it ends. The stairs are called the Impossible Staircase, and the music is a piece called the Shepard Scale. Both are endless and impossible. Yet here they are.
