Many holidays are celebrated during winter. In this movie, you’ll learn how people of different religions and cultures celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and New Year's. Christmas honors the birth of Jesus Christ, and to celebrate, some families go to church, decorate trees, sing songs, volunteer or donate to their communities, give gifts, and open presents from Santa Claus. Hanukkah is an eight-day Jewish holiday and traditions include lighting candles on a menorah, playing games with a dreidel, and giving gelt. Kwanzaa is a week-long celebration that honors African culture, heritage, and history. Each day, a candle is lit on a kinara. The New Year is often celebrated with a party and a countdown to midnight. Many people make resolutions, or promises and goals, for the coming year. Watch the movie to learn more about each holiday!
