Use the round button with the arrow to turn the room. Your location and the direction you are facing are displayed at the top-right with the green arrow. The items you have found are displayed at the bottom-right. Click on an item to activate the item, and then click on an object/ inhabitant to see of it reacts to it. Investigate: Click on an emoticon to let it talk. Also click on the other elements in the house to investigate them. Have fun!
